An experienced Chancery practitioner, highly recommended as an advocate in a survey by The Lawyer magazine, who appears regularly in all courts up to the level of the Privy Council, Piers draws consistent plaudits from clients for his advocacy, effective team-based management of litigation, and the clarity and insight of his advice.


Experience and Expertise

Piers Feltham has a broad Chancery and commercial practice in which he has developed particular expertise in his specialist fields and the law of estoppel as editor of the most recent edition of Spencer Bower on Estoppel by Representation. In addition to litigation his practice includes advice and drafting in relation to domestic and overseas trusts and property.

He recently appeared successfully for the claimants against the estate of Jimmy Savile in the much publicised hearings before Sales J and the Court of Appeal as to its administration, and was responsible for trust and property law and wayleave damages in the team that reached the landmark settlement for the Bodo community with Shell in the Bonny-Bomu oil pipeline litigation.

Piers won the George Long Prize for Jurisprudence at Cambridge University and was Uthwatt scholar of Gray's Inn.



Piers is a member of the Chancery Bar Association; the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP); the Association of Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) and the Charity Law Association.

Piers was for 10 years an honorary scientific fellow of the Zoological Society of London and a trustee of Alone In London, a charity for homeless young people, and, for 5 years, a trustee of The Mausolea and Monuments Charitable Trust. He is presently a trustee of the Ceasefire Centre for Civilian Rights and Vice-Chairman of The Fitzrovia Community Centre.
