Banking and Financial Services

Radcliffe Chambers offers specialist expertise in litigation, drafting and advisory work relating to retail and commercial banking and financial services.

Members of Chambers deal with a wide range of banking and financial services matters. Our members undertake drafting and advisory work, in relation both to established products and to new products being brought to market. Members also provide advice in due diligence exercises. We undertake advocacy in a wide variety of cases, from test cases with the potential to have an impact on the whole market, to smaller-scale disputes in the county courts. Members also appear in other forums such as Tribunals.

Our clients include banks, building societies, hedge funds, institutional investors, regulators and customers. Chambers is recommended for banking and financial services in The Legal 500 and for consumer finance work in Chambers UK. A number of our members are ranked as leading practitioners in this field.

The leading textbook on building society law, Wurtzburg and Mills, is edited by members of Chambers. Members have also acted as contributing editors of The Law of Investor Protection, 2nd edition, and as contributing editors to the section on Mutual Institutions in the current (fifth) edition of Halsbury’s Laws of England: and the section on Friendly Societies in the preceding (fourth) edition of Halsbury’s Laws of England (2007 reissue).

Malcolm Waters QC, Elizabeth Ovey and Mark Fell are the authors of Retail Mortgages: Law, Regulation and Procedure, published by Sweet & Maxwell.
